Panth\u00e9\u00e2tre is an international network built around the artistic and philosophical ideas of ENRIQUE PARDO and LINDA WISE. Based in Paris and Mal\u00e9rargues, in collaboration with the Roy Hart Center (Gard – Occitanie), it was created in 1978 as a voice\/movement research group, developing the vocal legacy of Roy Hart (1926-1975) following his tragic death in May 1975.<\/p>

Today, the approaches of the two directors are intertwined: Enrique towards CHOREOGRAPHIC THEATER, including voice and text. Linda towards VOCAL and MUSICAL WORK – with a strong emphasis on CULTURAL STUDIES, in line with the work of American psychologist James HILLMAN<\/a>, and more recently in dialogue with French philosopher and ethno-historian Xavier PAPA\u00cfS<\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A word from the directors.<\/p>

Both of us have been through difficult times health-wise in the last three years and pursue our artistic journeys adapting to the times and to our age: we will soon be 75 and 80. Transmission has become a \u2018mission\u2019, which we impart mostly by sharing our research towards the Pantheatre Performance Diploma. <\/em>Panticipants can also opt for including in their programs the Roy Hart voice teacher certification.<\/p>

We qualify our aims as \u201cprofessional\u201d, and, while we welcome technical know-how in music, acting and\/or dance, what matters most to us is open-mindednes<\/b>: it\u00a0is much more a question of personality, a matter of quality of listening and expressive risk-taking rather than of technique.<\/p>

In that spirit, we also welcome non-performers: academics, psychotherapists, social workers, etc. We call Pantheatre, with a pinch of salt, a \u2018School of Genius\u2019<\/em> – after the devise of a Spanish army garrison, next door to our 2003 Festival in Granada. The Myth and Theatre Festival
June 30 to July 12th 2026<\/span><\/h2>

The 2026\u00a0Myth and Theatre Festival<\/em><\/strong>, Pantheatre\u2019s annual benchmark event (since 1986) is now five months away. It takes place in Malerargues, in the South of France, at the Roy Hart Centre, and this year it is dedicated to Enrique Pardo’s proposal of a CHOREOGRAPHIC THEATRE<\/b>, in the light of two major topics : ANARCHY<\/strong> and ARCHETYPES.<\/strong><\/p>

Dear friends of Pantheatre, of Linda\u2019s, of mine and of Choreographic Theatre<\/em>, we send you our warmest season\u2019s greetings from a sunny if freeeezing Paris, with more detailed information for the coming Myth and Theatre Festival<\/em> (June 30 to July 12). A special occasion rounding-up some forty years of… Choreographic Theatre<\/em><\/strong> (CT), the name that best suited my work, already in the early 1980\u2019s, and still does.<\/p>

We are gathering a circle of current (and historical) CT \u2018insiders\u2019: performers, critics, curious observers, iconoclastic scholars, around two inspiring figures : Xavier Papa\u00efs<\/em><\/strong>, French ethno-historian, Lacanian psychoanalyst and philosopher, and the late James Hillman<\/em><\/strong>, who called his work, after C.G. Jung, Archetypal Psychology<\/em><\/strong>. He was the Festival\u2019s founder and Pantheatre\u2019s honorary president from the mid-1980\u2019s until his passing in 2011.<\/p>

The Festival\u2019s theme will be ANARCHY and ARCHETYPES \u2013 <\/em>in Choreographic Theatre<\/em><\/strong>, which promises to be a momentous encounter, a conjunctio <\/em>of sorts between two unlikely bedfellows. It happens that both notions have \u1f00\u03c1\u03c7\u03ad<\/strong> (arkhe)<\/em> as their core referent: ARKHE-types<\/em><\/strong>: (typologies of arkhe<\/em>: foundational figures) and An-ARKHE<\/em><\/strong>: \u201cwithout arkhe<\/em>,\u201d without a figure of authority\u2014in a dramaturgical sense: without an authoritarian author.<\/p>

The 2026 Festival<\/em> (confirmed June 30 to July 12), is evolving fast towards ponencias<\/em> (Spanish for presenting and discussing keynote <\/em>research): we are inviting artists and thinkers to present, teach and reflect on CHOREOGRAPHIC THEATRE<\/em>. Mornings will be dedicated to laboratories, afternoons to voice and singing work (\u2018after\u2019<\/em> Roy Hart), and evenings to performances, lectures and colloquia<\/em>. Enrique Pardo<\/p>

The Greek concept of\u00a0ARKHE<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0lies at the heart of our two concepts:\u00a0ARKHE-types<\/em><\/strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0typologies of\u00a0arkhe,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0a<\/em><\/strong>n-ARKHE<\/em><\/strong>, without\u00a0arkhe<\/em>, without a figure of authority\u2014and, in a\u00a0dramaturgical<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0sense: without an\u00a0authoritarian author<\/u>.<\/p>

Carl G. Jung<\/strong> turned to mythology as a model for a polytheistic, pagan psychology, picking up epochal and archaic (arkhe<\/em>, again\u2026) traditions: archetypes as patent, typical configurations within civilizations and their environments: \u201cpatent\u201d as a sort of \u201ccopyright\u201d. I once put it in terms of \u201cmyths as the ecology of the imagination\u201d. Freud<\/strong>\u00a0had done such a move with the myth of Oedipus, in a monotheistic impulse.<\/p>

James Hillman<\/strong><\/a>, following Jung, called his own approach\u00a0archetypal psychology<\/strong>, i<\/strong>.e. <\/strong>founded (arkhe<\/em>) on what he perceived as \u201cthe poetic basis of mind.\u201d His model was (as far as I am concerned) fundamentally\u00a0artistic<\/u><\/em>.<\/p>

After three or four \u2018educations\u2019, including Fine Arts (painting), and Theatre (of the most intense kind with Roy Hart), I found with James Hillman my critical mindscape (ideas and values). I was fortunate to become his friend in 1980; he came to visit our laboratories, agreed to be Pantheatre’s honorary president and founded the\u00a0Myth and <\/em>Theater<\/em> Festival in 1986. We continued to see each other until his passing in 2011.<\/p>

Anarchy<\/strong>\u00a0is a relative newcomer to Pantheatre\u2019s\u00a0pan<\/em><\/strong>-orama. This in itself is a fascinating fact: many artists and many, many philosophers turn to Anarchy, though few avow themselves as anarchists. Anarchy appears after a long series dedicated to\u00a0Magic themes<\/strong><\/a>. My gratitude here goes to another inspiring figure, a specialist and advocate of Magic and of Anarchy:\u00a0Xavier Papa\u00efs<\/strong><\/a>, philosopher, anthropologist, ethno-historian, psychoanalyst, polymath… and French (I didn’t expect that one!) and today, a most inspiring friend. He will be once again the Festival’s guest of honor. EP<\/p><\/div>
