We are dedicating a page to Xavier Papa\u00efs, a French philosopher who prefers to be called an ethno-historian, anchoring his thinking in History and Geography, Anthropology and Sociology. He is also a Lacanian psychoanalyst. In recent years, he has withdrawn from the public eye (especially from the internet).<\/p>

I shall include in this page notes and exchanges with Xavier, whom I consider not only my best friend, but also the most inspiring thinker today, certainly for artists, and in particular for performers.<\/p>

I asked him if he would agree to be presented as a consultant for Pantheatre, but he preferred the title of \u201cscientific advisor\u201d!!! Yes, in the academic world, this title refers to a leading specialist.<\/p>

You can visit the encyclopedic website he has put together, ARS MAGICA<\/a> which includes a wide array of theoretical writings (mostly in French). He hardly ever refers to his own writings or his name… His brief introduction to Magic is one of the best anthropological articles I have ever read\u2014certainly on the subject of Magic – poetic philosophy. PS Ne trouvant aucune photo de lui, j’ai demand\u00e9 \u00e0 Xavier de prendre un \u00ab selfie \u00bb apr\u00e8s qu’il m’aie dit qu’il avait d\u00fb s’habiller chaudement avec un chapeau de fourrure \u00e0 cause du froid sib\u00e9rien qui r\u00e8gnait \u00e0 Issoire, en Auvergne. C’est la photo que vous voyez ici. J’esp\u00e8re que nous pourrons en trouver d’autres, car il est aussi un v\u00e9ritable cam\u00e9l\u00e9on, un penseur redoutable, un polymathe dot\u00e9 d’une m\u00e9moire et d’une perspicacit\u00e9 extraordinaires. Il rejoint les personnalit\u00e9s dont je parlerai dans le recueil que je pr\u00e9pare, intitul\u00e9 <\/span>G<\/i>ENII<\/i> – Les g\u00e9nies que j’ai eu la chance de rencontrer et de fr\u00e9quenter au cours de ma vie.<\/span><\/p>

PS Unable to find any photos of him, I asked Xavier to take a selfie after he told me he had to dress warmly with a fur hat because of the Siberian cold in Issoire, Auvergne, Central France. That is the photo you see here. I hope we can find others, because he is also a true chameleon, a formidable thinker, a polymath with an extraordinary memory and insight.
